“Speaking architecture” is a core concept for the building as the University of Arizona Agriculture Center desires to create a community center where students and faculty will share knowledge to the public. Therefore, the building is designed to have terrace gardens where vegetation is planted to advertise what the center is doing.

The exterior envelope of the building has horizontal stripes on the south, and then it smoothly transforms into vertical bars to deal with the eastern and western sunlight. These bars also provide a diverse perception that some spaces can be seen from the public and some parts are hidden from viewers.
